Toshiba plans to start constructing a new semiconductor production facility in the Bang Kadi Industrial Park on the outskirts of Bangkok. Two billion Yen (US$17 million; US$1 = 115 Yen) is expected to be invested in the plant initially; upon its completion in March 2007, this plant will create 8,000 square meters of production area. Output of this plant is expected to cater to the rising demand for small-signal and optoelectronic semiconductor devices used in consumer electronics products and mobile phones.
